ISNTREE - GIM PDRN Hydro Bouncy Ampoule

Gifted by the brand in exchange for review

PDRN has become a new trend in K-Beauty, with brands quickly jumping on the bandwagon and releasing their own versions. Isntree is one of those brands, but instead of using the traditional salmon-derived PDRN, they've opted for a seaweed-based alternative. While I’m unsure whether there are studies backing Isntree's claims or if it's just marketing, as far as I know, only salmon-derived PDRN has been confirmed in studies for its efficiency and results.

Isntree markets their new ampoule as being formulated with Wando GIM PDRN, an ingredient derived from seaweed sourced from Wando, and enhanced with nano-liposome technology for maximized absorption and efficacy. The formula also contains Hyaluronic Acid and vegan collagen to boost hydration and elasticity, while also helping to shrink enlarged pores and brighten the skin.

That’s the brand description. Let’s take a closer look at the ingredients list. First, the GIM PDRN appears as Sodium DNA in the INCI list, so we have to trust that it’s actually derived from seaweed. It’s listed as the 7th ingredient, which suggests it’s present in a fairly high concentration. The formula also includes several antioxidants, such as Oat Kernel Extract, Coptis Japonica Root Extract, and Hydrolyzed Gardenia Florida Extract, as well as different forms of Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hyaluronic Acid). There are also soothing ingredients like Beta-Glucan, Lactobacillus Ferment, and Allantoin. Importantly, this serum is free of fragrance, essential oils, and alcohol. Overall, the INCI list is fairly long, but it contains a solid mix of beneficial ingredients.

The serum has a gel-like, stretchy, and gooey texture, similar to snail mucin, and is completely fragrance-free. While some might find it a bit messy, it’s relatively easy to manage with proper handling. The product comes in a 50ml bottle with a pump.

My experience

This was my first PDRN serum, and I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. I used it in the mornings because, despite its gooey texture, it absorbed quickly and provided a good boost of hydration. However, after finishing the entire bottle, I didn’t notice much beyond the initial hydration. I didn’t see any significant brightening, pore-shrinking, or improvement in elasticity. It was, however, effective in hydrating my skin. Paired with my daily moisturizer, my skin felt plump and hydrated throughout the day. But honestly, there are many other hydrating ampoules on the market that deliver similar results, so this one doesn’t really stand out in that regard.

Overall, I liked it. It’s hydrating, clean, and scentless—features I really appreciate. But given that it’s marketed as offering so much more, such as brightening, pore-shrinking, and improved elasticity, I didn’t experience any of those benefits. So, ultimately, I wouldn’t repurchase it and wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re specifically looking for a hydration boost.
