CELIMAX - Noni Acne Cleanser

Gifted by the brand in exchange for review

I’m always happy when brands reach out for collaborations, especially when the gifted products are ones that have been on my wishlist but I haven’t had the chance to try yet. That was exactly the case with Celimax. I received four of their products, carefully selected for my skin type. Among them was the self-foaming Acne Cleanser, along with the Noni Ampoule, BHA Pads, and Oil Control Sunscreen, which I’ll review separately soon.

Celimax describes this cleanser as a product that gently removes makeup and impurities with its low-pH micro-bubbles while soothing and calming irritated, troubled skin. It contains Noni Extract to keep the skin moisturized throughout cleansing, promoting a more radiant complexion. The formula includes 0.5% Salicylic Acid for gentle exfoliation, the ACZERO complex—seven plant extracts designed to help control sebum production and prevent breakouts—and 35.5% Noni Extract to nourish and support the skin’s moisture barrier. It’s hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive skin.

The ingredients list is quite long and filled with many plant extracts. The first is Noni Extract, the common name for the fruit of the Morinda citrifolia tree—a tropical evergreen native to Southeast Asia and Australasia. It’s believed to help reduce inflammation and improve overall skin health. Other notable ingredients include Panthenol, Allantoin, and Salicylic Acid. The formula also features the seven extracts that make up the brand’s ACZERO complex: Bergamot Leaf Extract, Cladosiphon okamuranus Extract (a type of brown seaweed), Pine Leaf Extract, Willow Bark Extract, Green Tea Leaf Extract, Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract, and Coffea Arabica Seed Extract (coffee bean). The cleanser is free from Alcohol and Fragrance but does contain Rosemary Leaf Oil. Its texture is a soft foam with a herbal scent, packaged in a 155 ml plastic bottle with a self-foaming pump.

My experience

I have to admit I’m not a fan of self-foaming cleansers. I’ve tried a few in the past and never really liked them—they often feel too weak or mild for my skin, as if they don’t clean it properly. This one, however, was a bit different. Perhaps because it’s formulated with stronger acne-fighting ingredients, I could actually feel it working. It left my skin soft and clean. I’m not fond of the herbal scent, but since the foam is so light and fluffy, it didn’t linger. It didn’t irritate, dry out, or strip my skin, which was a pleasant experience. Overall, it performed better than any other self-foaming cleanser I’ve tried, though it still feels a little too gentle for my preference.

All in all, it’s not a bad product—actually the best among similar cleansers I’ve used—but it didn’t impress me enough to repurchase. It’s a great gentle option for people with sensitive skin (who can tolerate Rosemary Leaf Oil) and those who prefer mild cleansers, suitable for most skin types. But for me, it just wasn’t enough.
