GOODAL - Heartleaf Calming Moisture Serum

Bought with my own money

Back in the day, when I first started my K-Beauty journey, Goodal was one of the brands I was really excited about. Their Vita C Dark Spot Serum was a big hit at the time and remains one of the brand’s most recognizable and beloved products. Curious to explore more from Goodal, I ended up purchasing the Heartleaf line duo – the serum and the cream. I tucked them away in my stash, and with all the new releases and hyped products coming out, I quickly forgot about them. Recently, I rediscovered the duo, and since the expiration dates were approaching, I finally decided to open and try them.

To be honest, I was a bit reluctant at first. I wasn’t excited anymore and assumed that, since these were older releases, I probably wouldn’t like them much. But to my surprise, the serum turned out to be really good – and I liked the cream too, though a bit less. Let’s dive into my serum review.

But before we get into the details, I just want to note that it’s really hard to find any official information about Goodal. They don’t have their own website, so I gathered all my info from third-party sources. I’ve done my best to ensure it's as accurate as possible.

As alwyas, let's check what Goodal has to say about their product. According to the brand, this serum contains 81.9% Heartleaf Extract to restore moisture levels and calm skin inflammation. It's also packed with 8 types of Hyaluronic Acid to deliver hydration with a lightweight texture that absorbs easily, leaving the skin feeling supple and refreshed.

Now let's check the ingredients list. The main ingredient is Houttuynia Cordata Extract (Heartleaf). This serum contains 8 types of Hyaluronic Acid as advertised (Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolized Hyaluronic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hyaluronate, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer and Potassium Hyaluranate). Other notable ingredients are Panthenol and Allantoin. It's free from Alcohol and Fragrance but does contain Essential Oils (Orange and Lemon Peel, Lavender). It has lightweight texture with no scent. It comes in 50ml glass bottle with pump.

My experience

As I mentioned earlier, I wasn’t too eager to try this serum at first. But once I did, it quickly became a staple in my evening skincare routine. I loved the lightweight texture – it absorbed fast and left no sticky or tacky residue. It didn’t have a noticeable scent to me, which I appreciated. However, some people have mentioned a light citrusy scent, likely from the essential oils. Personally, I didn’t notice it, and I’m glad – I prefer my calming products to be unscented. What really stood out was how well it helped calm my skin. Redness and even some fresh breakouts healed more quickly when I was using it. It was also super easy to slot into any routine, which made me reach for it night after night.

Overall, this is an amazing serum for those who don’t mind essential oils in their skincare. Personally, I don’t quite understand why they were added – especially since this is supposed to be a calming product. By definition, it should be free from potentially irritating ingredients. That said, it still worked really well for me. It felt fresh, soothing, and effective.

Would I Repurchase? I’d say yes – but with a caveat. It’s quite difficult to find. I’m not sure if it’s been discontinued or just isn’t widely available anymore, but that’s the main reason I might not repurchase it.
