ROOTREE - Mobitherapy UV Sun Shield SPF50+ PA++++

Bought with my own money

I was introduced to Rootree by my Korean friend and decided to purchase some of their products out of curiosity and my never-ending urge to try new Korean skincare brands. This sun cream is part of the Mobitherapy line, which also includes a Repair Serum, Eye Cream, and Anti-Aging Moisturizer. The moisturizer is the only one I haven’t tried yet, but I’ll review the rest of the line soon.

Let’s start by learning a bit more about the Mobitherapy line. All of Rootree’s product lines have unique names, so it’s interesting to understand what each one represents.

The Mobitherapy line shares a key ingredient: Dendropanax Morbiferus Extract. Its common English name is the Hwangchil Tree—a native Korean evergreen often referred to as the “tree of life.” Traditionally, it’s valued for its antioxidant, detoxifying, and skin-protective properties.

The word “Mobi” comes from Morbiferus, and “therapy” represents healing, care, and recovery. So “Mobitherapy” essentially means therapy using Dendropanax Morbiferus, which is the core ingredient throughout the line. This line is about brightening and anti-aging.

According to Rootree’s website, this sun cream protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays, which cause premature aging. It contains natural moisturizing ingredients that hydrate, nourish, and help maintain smooth, radiant skin with anti-wrinkle and brightening effects. It’s suitable for all skin types. The brand highlights Dendropanax Morbiferus Extract, Niacinamide, Sudachi, and Titanium Dioxide as its key ingredients.

Now that we know how the brand promotes this product, let’s take a look at the INCI list. This sunscreen is a hybrid formula, containing both chemical and physical UV filters: Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Titanium Dioxide, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenol Triazine, and Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate—all listed near the beginning. Niacinamide appears early as well, while Dendropanax Morbiferus Extract is found around the middle, and Sudachi (Citrus Sudachi Fruit Juice) appears in the latter half of the list, followed by Centella Asiatica Extract and Fragrance at the end. The formula is free from Alcohol and Essential Oils. It has a lightweight white texture and a typical, old-school sunscreen scent. The product comes in a 60g plastic tube.

My experience

Despite its lightweight texture, this sunscreen feels quite moisturizing and leaves a dewy finish that settles into a more natural look after a while. It didn’t irritate my skin and doesn’t leave a white cast, even though it contains Titanium Dioxide. The scent reminds me of the body sunscreens I used as a teenager—not unpleasant or overwhelming, but I would prefer if it was fragrance-free. It feels nice on the skin, but overall rather basic. There’s nothing to complain about, yet it doesn’t deliver any “wow” factor either. Because of its texture, I think this sunscreen is best suited for dry to normal skin types, and possibly for oily skin during colder months.

Overall, it’s a decent product, but it feels quite ordinary. There’s nothing particularly unique about it that would make me want to repurchase.
