SOME BY MI - Retinol Intense Reactivating Serum

Bought with my own money

This was my first encounter with Retinol/Retinal serum. Earlier I only tried eye cream, that contained Retinol. I have a couple of Retinol serums in my stash and this was chosen only because of the expiration date, it was the earliest. I've tried eye cream from this line before and I don't have opinion on that so I wasn't really sure what to expect.

This serum contains 0.1% Retinol, 1ppm Retinal and 5,000 ppm Bakuchiol as key ingredients. Other ingredients worth mentioning are: Niacinamide, Centella Asiatica Extract, Asiaticoside, Madecassoside, Resveratrol, Adenoside, Licorice Root Extract, Panthenol, Ceramide NP, Beta-Glucan. The ingredient list is quite long and I'm not a fan of long lists full of unnecessary ingredients. Unfortunately it's only Alcohol free. It contains Fragrance, some Essential Oils and BHA (but not acid), that is controversial ingredient. It has subtle floral scent, milky viscous, thick texture. It comes in 30ml glass bottle (that has beautiful deep purple color) with a dropper.

My experiance

I was using this one right after cleansing in my evening routine. I love how quickly it absorbs, despite being thick and viscous. It leaves skin supple but I haven't really noticed any big changes in my skin condition. I was slowly introducing it to avoid any potential irritation but I feel like it wasn't necessary as this product contains very small amount of actives. It didn't break or irritate my skin. The scent is noticeable but not strong and it doesn't linger. I agree, that the dropper can be annoying, because it sometimes doesn't take the product at all, but I got used to it pretty quickly, as you don't need much of the serum at once.

Overall I have mixed feeling about this one. On one side it's very pleasant to use, (except for the dropper) with fast absorbtion and leaving skin soft and supple but on the other hand I haven't really noticed any big results.

For now I'm taking a little break from Retinol skincare. I need some time (still) to heal my skin and my dark spots, but I will be ready to get back to retinol nights with some other products.
